This is “Champ” my Best in Show boy. Mtn Aire’s Star of Aslan. He was one of my foundation sires and I can still use him through frozen semen. He was the ultimate show dog and loved having his picture taken. He was nationally ranked as a Special and won numerous Best of Breed and Group wins. He was very much loved in my house.

ABOUT THE PUG
The pug has been a beloved pet for about 3000 years and is one of the oldest breeds in recorded history. They were breed to be the companions of emperors in imperial China and they apparently did their job quite well! The Chinese often are recorded as having given a pug as a gesture of good will to visitors from other countries. This was how the pug showed up in England, and other western countries. It became a royalty favorite in Holland for many years. After the breed had been introduced to America after the Civil War, it was accepted by the American Kennel Club.
In the early 1950’s, the Pug Dog Club of America was founded, and now the breed consistently ranks in the top 10 to 20 out of the nearly 140 breeds recognized by the AKC. Pugs have wonderful temperaments. They are anxious to please you, and love to learn, especially if there is a treat for learning something! They love the attention of children, and they can handle some rough play, they think nothing of having their ears and tails pulled in a playful tussle. The more play, the better they like it! Even as puppies their biggest need is to be loved, they thrive on laps! It’s really hard to resist the loving stare of those big brown eyes as they cuddle up with you for an evening rest.
