ABOUT CHRISTI PAYNE

Mountain Aire’s Lead Instructor

Christi Payne was born and raised on the ranch here and was part of the first group of Pony Clubbers in the newly formed Wallowa Mountain Pony Club, directed by her mom, Connie. She graduated as a B+ Pony Clubber (an extremely accomplished certification) and continued to ride while attending Boise State University. During that time she became acquainted with Wasatch Sport Horses run by Stephanie Goodman, who hired her as a barn manager. Christi was competing Maxwell Smart, raised by Mountain Aire Sport Horses, and successfully rode him at the Intermediate Level of Eventing. She moved into training horses and teaching at Wasatch for six years. She has now come back to her roots along with her husband Brandon and son Carter, born in 2019.

Christi teaches adults and children all phases of eventing and dressage, and assists in the local Pony Club, along with training more of Mountain Aire horses.
